Producer prices will remain volatile as the cost to the farmer rises and the sterling exchange rate to the euro will continue

to make life difficult

Many producers are also suffering from lack of finance from their bankers, which can affect the ability of some producers to hold stock and therefore maintain an orderly market in certain products
It is difficult to plan forward due to these variable costs and supply problems
Our view presently is to secure product on any dip in the market price as forward projections
by several producers are erring on the side of substantial price rises in the near future
The only potential draw back would be a sluggish demand from the UK consumer although we now have to consider other world wide markets which are  competing for product that we used to rely on from week to week and which now do not have the same price trends which we have experienced of late 

we must also be aware of the potential demand from the Olympics in July/Aug and the Queens jubilee in June

IWP BONELESS PORK COLLARS x 13.6 KG

although we are experiencing a slightly slow trade at the present time, we feel this period may present a buying opportunity at levels being presently requested.  It is important to remember that last year the prices reached around £2.50 p kg and this year there are even more cost pressures being experienced by farmers and producers alike.  Certainly one to watch especially considering that the UK seems to be priced well under the rest of Europe

We are also informed that at least 6 UK producers have received export licenses for export to China, and also South Africa are now allowing imports from the UK of pork products.We are also informed that there are healthy exports to Eastern Europe presently .In our view it will only be a matter of time before certain pork products become difficult to procure at sensible prices this year.

Certainly one to keep an eye on!

MEATY BELLY RIBS x 10 KG CARTONS

We normally see interest from the Supermarkets early Spring and buying signals for the forthcoming summer trade at this time of the year.Together with demand from other countries and with pork prices firmer we see prices rising from present levels

STANDARD BELLY RIBS x10 KG CARTONS

Here again prices should start to firm around this time of the year
Countries such as South Africa, China and Korea are all competing with the UK for supplies, hence is the reason why we cannot rest on our laurels
We do see prices getting firming from present levels for the reasons as stated above

. One to watch and we feel any price dips could be taken advantage of before demand resumes for the forthcoming barbeque season

CHILLED BEEF PAD

 We believe we have seen prices at the low end of the trends todate and see no reason why prices should not gradually climb over the months to come
There exists a fundamental shortage of cattle and feed costs are expensive
We cannot see beef prices getting much lower than what is being achieved at present. Ofcourse the exchange rate will need to be watched but on balance the market forward will undoubtedly be very steady

CHIPS CHILLED 2x5 KG CARTONS  “ LUTOSA “ grade “A”

Supply problems were being experienced due to adverse weather patterns over the last few months
However the Amsterdam potato exchange tell us that prices for the new seasons are stable

it is also reported that the quality of many potatoes stored are somewhat below standard which may place pressure on good qulaity chips for the months to come
We therefore suggest a close eye is kept on the quality being received from other brands in order that comparisons are on a like for like basis

BRAZILIAN CHIX BREAST FILLETS x15Kg  HCLP

we feel there is a very interesting situation developing on this product. Prices crashed in the months approaching Xmas due to heavy deliveries arriving from Brazil where licenses had to be utilised. Replacements are very likely to be dearer and prices quoted today have not been seen for several years. we would suggest buying at todays levels for forward deliveries if you can as we can only see prices rising substanatially over the coming months
